I have just joined and hope to add a family memorial soon. Despite being born in deepest Wiltshire I have a strong affinity to Scotland courtesy of my dad being born and brought up in Springburn. In recent years I have been looking into his roots and have found a surprising amount of information.
Unfortunately I have to work and that and having 3 boys restricts the time I have to spend on research! |

I've been through Lazonby a few times on the way up to Hartside Fell on the bike.
There's nothing better than going down to England to make a racket

I have a bike myself Derek - and there's nothing I like better than heading north to enjoy the roads in Scotland! I'm fortunate that I can head up to Alston via Hartside and around to Brampton then home in time for breakfast, I tend to avoid it otherwise, too many nutters around............

Amen to that! That's why I steer well clear of Hartside at the weekends.

I don't know if this link will work but it is an excellent site. I came across the guy who runs it through work as he has found several trees that are actual memorials. The most intriguing are 9 Sweet Chestnuts planted alongside the Lancaster Canal at Hincaster, apparantly in memory of men who worked for the Canal company and were killed in the Great War, so far it's been difficult to pin down anything other than stories passed down. I'm sure there are a lot of other trees planted for similar reasons but the original link has been lost. |

Having now read through more about the site I have realised I should post up my pictures on the War Graves site and not here. It's a private family memorial at Sighthill Cemetery and that seems to be where it should go. Can anyone help with processing my registration there as I still haven't been activated?
