UKNIWM 44741

This memorial was originally in Keir Church (also known as Keirmill) at OS Map Ref NX860932. The church closed and has been sold. After some research I found that the memorial has been moved some time in the last few years to Penpont church at OS Map Ref NX849945. It is not currently on display but is held in storage - the person I asked was not aware of any plans to display it but it is available for viewing on request.

The first photograph is of Keir church (the original location) and the second photo is of Penpont church where it is currently held.

This was originally listed as part of UKNIWM 44332. Following my submition, it has now been given its own listing of 44741 and I will amend the original post accordingly.

Is it just me, or is it disappointing that it is not seen to be appropriate to display this memorial?

The ideal would be that it is put on display. The disaster would be if it was lost or sold.

This one at least is safe, we know where it is and it is available to view on request.

Still we can always hope that this one and the WW1 memorial may get put back on the wall at sometime in the future.

Please note as from 1st April, 2009 this memorial is located in the Keir Village Hall, along with the WW1. memorial.
The hall is found on Keir Road from Penpont, pass the Keir war memorial and the hall is the first building on your left.
