It looks like the name panels are modern replacements. Probably done by a local monumental mason by the looks of it.

The originals were probably carved into stone like the note about Nina, Countess of Seafield (who's husband is listed amongst the fallen) but were being worn away. It would be interesting to see older photograhs of this memorial.

I can't quite work out the way the names have been listed of the Second World War. It could be by date of death? For the Great War it's Navy first, then 6th Gordons, then other Gordons then other Scottish Regiments, but not in order of precedence, then other regiments. Within each unit it is then in alphabetical order.

I suspect the panels are original. They are quite typical of local work of the time ie headstones, etc. It is quite likely they were used to give the names prominence over the rest of the memorial.

The details of the Countess of Seafield are on the actual stone which she laid.
