Another item that I only just picked up on. Lumberjills were the Women's Timber Corps in WW2.
From the BBC website 10 Oct 2007.
"The first memorial to the 5,000 members of the Women's Timber Corps (WTC) who ensured vital timber supplies during World War II has been unveiled.
A life size bronze sculpture of a 'Lumberjill' will stand in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park near Aberfoyle. "
Can this be added to the lists please?

Hi Paul,
I should think it will have been probably set up near the David Marshall Lodge. We often go up there (does a great pie and beans) and will get pics unless someone gets there first.
Mark also posted about a possible memorial in Aberfoyle Memorial Hall so its well overdue a visit by one of the forum members |

Hello again Paul. Happy New Year! I managed over to Aberfoyle today and got the photographs. They are posted in the Stirlingshire section.
Cheers.
Jim
p.s. Good call Paul! I hadn't heard of the memorial and it stands just out of view from the Forest Lodge so would easily have been missed if I didn't know to look for it. It was well worth the visit! |
