Robert the Bruce's tomb in Dunfermline Abbey;
Although not strictly within the definition of our aims I thought it remiss not to photograph the burial tomb of "THE BRUCE" which lies beneath the pulpit in the place of worship. He was interred there in 1329.
The memorial brass plaque was added to Dunfermline Abbey in 1889. The Latin inscription translates to: 'The tomb of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, fortunately discovered among the ruins in 1818, has been anew marked by this brass in the 560th year after his death'. |

Note that the tower of this church is right above this tomb. Around the top in very large letters it says 'KING ROBERT THE BRUCE' One word on each wall. You can see 'KING' and 'ROBERT' in Mark's photograph.
