Who he?????

Fotheringham appears to be the only one listed without rank. I have no idea what C.O.H.S. stands for.

However, I'm almost certain this is the man. I will let those interested peruse the records themselves;

Robert Fotheringham 2818 enlists in the 58th Brigade 1880 (Ancestry)
Re-enlists A. & S. 4626 Highlanders 1914 (Ancestry)
1901 Census - Residing Alloa (Ancestry)
1911 Census - Residing Ochil Place, Alloa
Died a pensioner (not noted on DC) 2nd July, 1918 from aneurism of aorta

Mark - he is who you thought. (and he was a Perthshire man!)
I found his history (and many others on this memorial) at
http://www.edinburghs-war.ed.ac.uk/sites/default/files/pdf_Hillfoots_Fatalities_0.pdf

I think the rank is CQMS.

I am unsure whether Fotheringham would fit the criteria for CWGC status but he is discharged - aneurism (aortic) and his cause of death is aortic aneurism. Stated by the Medical Board to have been 'aggravated by service since the declarataion of War' !!
