Excellent news!
I find it indispensable, glad it's there again.
I noticed there is an additional search option, "secondary Number" search. |

This has been there for some time as a separate search engine. It allows searching for Secondary Numbers, like the record below, searched on 89198. Many of these records are transfers to Labour Corps. There are around 10,000 in total in this index. This search is on secondary number only.
Still some work to do on the main engine before I add the non-UK units.

In the last few days the WW1 search engine wont work unless you have login details?
Anybody know how to register?
Oddly you can still use the secondary number search |

I have mailed Geoff and will let you know of any reply. He has been kind enough to reply to me in the past.

No reply from Geoff but the search engine is back - obviously still under development though.
I had a problem searching by name but other searches worked fine.
You just need to click the 'log in' button to make it all start working.

The notice and guest feature are new, glad to be able to use this fantastic tool.
I wonder why the CWGC don't improve their search engine? It really could do with a facelift and more options. |

Del
The CWGC Debt of Honour search is not provided for the purpose of aiding historical / family research. This is not within their remit, although I believe they are looking at making more options available some time in the future. _________________ Jim

For a short time a few years ago the CWGC had a field where you could enter a unit to help narrow down a search so they've tinkered with it before. It didn't last long before it was removed though.

The 1914-21 GSE is still password protected. There have also been changes to the 1939-47 one. Be aware that the Regiment / Corps filed defaults to 'Australia' so this may throw up 0 results if you are searching for a UK fatality.
It looks like you also need to have an initial too now on the 39-47 one which actually makes it more restricting in some ways than the CWGC site because there is not an option to search all nationalities.
