A forgotten war memorial, entrenched in the history of Aberdeen's war heroes, has been restored to its former glory.
A relative of one soldier who lost his life in action spearheaded the search for the memorial, which was eventually discovered in an inaccessible area of the city's harbour.
Charles Taylor was one of 100,000 troops killed in action in Gallipoli during world the First World War. He was just 18 years old.
His relative Ian Blair sifts through the only memorabilia they have of Charles - letters he sent from his postings in France, India and Gallipoli.
Charles was one of a number of workers at Aberdeen harbour that volunteered to fight in the war, but never returned home.
The war memorial is all there is to commemorate their lives.
Councillor Allan Hendry said: “"It was rededicated way back in 1983, and that time of day of course, the harbour was quite open to the public to gain access to the memorial.
“But now, of course, because of the new security arrangements, under the port authority rules, they closed off that part of Blaikie's Quay where the memorial had been rededicated, and, of course, people couldn't gain access any more.
“It's absolutely fantastic to see that Aberdeen Harbour Board have recognised that and moved the memorial so swiftly into this very prominent position at Pocra Quay."

The monument has been cleaned and restored to its former glory all at the expense of the harbour board.
Ian said: "It seems that this is a very nice place to situate the memorial because the public have access to it and it faces the harbour so we're very happy about that."
A rededication service will be held for relatives and military personnel on Wednesday. _________________
