"News of the death of Private David McMillan, formerly of G company, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Kelty, has been received by his parents. Private McMillan re-enlisted after the outbreak of war and was early sent to France, where he fell victim to a German sniper on February 8. He was 32 years of age, and was born in Bridgeton, Glasgow. For the past nine years he resided in Kelty."

"Official intimation from the War Office has been received by Mrs William Boyd, Cartadam, Kelty, of the death of her husband, Corporal William Boyd, Black Watch. Boyd, who was a reservist, was employed in the mines at the outbreak of the war. He took part in the South African campaign, and received two bullet wounds in the leg at Magersfontein. He went to France with the Expeditionary Force, and had been in most of the fighting. He leaves a wife and four children."

FIFE SOLDIERS LAY DOWN THEIR LIVES.
Information has been received by Mr Gillespie, 36 Fairfield, Lassodie, that his son, Private William Gillespie, Black Watch, has been killed in action on 22d April. He was twenty- two years of age, and was employed as a miner prior to enlistment.

Mrs Bogan, 20 Grievesland Terrace, Kelty, has received intimation from the War Office that her husband, Private Robert Bogan, has been killed in action. Private Bogan enlisted in the Black Watch last September, and went to the front in February. He belonged to Dundee, where his mother resides, but he came to Kelty twelve years ago, and was working as a miner in the Aitken Pit prior to enlistment. He was thirty-one years of age and is survived by a widow and four children.

Could this be a Robert and not Samuel McCulloch? I can find no Samuel McCulloch's of any regiment on SNWM or CWGC.

"Official intimation has been received from the War Office by Miss Christina Johnstone, Milton Farm, Jamestown, of the death of Corporal Robert McCulloch (2101), B Company of the 1st Black Watch. The official statement intimates that he was wounded at La Bassee on January 25, and that his body was found there on February 9 and buried there. He was 22 years of age, and was the son of Mr McCulloch, Hilty Farm, Kelty, Fifeshire."

"Corporal Robert McCulloch, 1st Black Watch, who has been killed in action, was a Reservist and prior to being called up was employed in a mine in the Kelty district."

"Writing to Mr James Nelson, engineer, Allandale Cottages, Bonnybridge, Sergeant J. Wilson, 2nd Battalion Black Watch, states that his son, Private Dan Nelson (2206), of his platoon, was killed on May 18 when on duty in the trenches, being shot through the head. Private Nelson, who was 24 years of age, was a native of Kelty. He enlisted four years ago, and had seen service in India."

KELTY'S ROLL OF HONOUR.
Three Killed and Two in Hospital
Official information has been received by Mr and Mrs Marshall, Station Road, Kelty, that their only son, Private Harry Marshall, Roval Scots, was killed action 6th inst. Marshall, who was 24 years of age, enlisted in January last year. Before the war he was in business as a painter with his father.

Information has been received by Mr Bernard Lynch, 31 Adam's Terrace, Kelty, that his son, Lance-Corporal Bernard Lynch, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, was killed in action on the 9th inst. Lance- Corporal Lynch joined the colours eight months ago, and has been six months on active service. Sergeant James Lynch, a brother, who was a reservist, was killed in action nine months ago, while Private Joseph Lynch was seriously wounded on the 25th of last month. All three brothers worked as miners in Kelty prior to enlistment.

Mrs C. Terris, Keltyhead, Kelty, has been informed that her nephew, Private Robert Hunter, Canadian Forces, was killed action in France on 16th September last. Private Hunter left Kelty for Canada with his parents six years ago, when war broke out be joined the Canadians, and went to France over a year ago. He was 19 years of age. Before going to Canada his parents, Mr and Mrs Fred Hunter, resided at Rose Cottage, Main Street, Kelty.

Mrs Wallace, Bath Street, Kelty, has been officially informed that her husband, Corporal Joseph Wallace, Canadian Forces, is lying dangerously ill in a hospital in France. Corporal Wallace came to this country with the second Canadian contingent last year. Before going to Canada he was for some years in the local 7th Battalion A. and S. Highlanders (Territorials).

Mr David Hutton, Bath Street, Kelty, has been notified that his son. Private William Hutton, Black Watch, has been admitted to a hospital in England suffering from wounds received in action. Private Hutton was employed as a painter with Mr Robert Marshall, Kelty before the war.

KELTY MAN KILLED AT THE FRONT.
Mr Andrew Turpie, Chipperkyle, Upper Oakfield, Kelty, has received intimation that his son, Lance-Corporal Andrew Turpie, was killed in action in France on 29th May. The sad news was sent by his brother James, who is in the same regiment.

Lance-Corporal Turpie enlisted in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on the outbreak of war, and went to the front a year ago. He was 20 years of age, and worked as miner in Kelty prior to enlistment. Another brother is with the New Zealand Mounted Rifles.

KELTY SOLDIERS KILLED.
Mr David Proudfoot, 20 Lindsay Row, Kelty, has received information that his son, Lance-Corporal David Proudfoot, Scottish Rifles, has been killed in action.

Lance-Corporal Proudfoot, who was 19 years of age, enlisted fifteen months ago, and went to France six months later. Before the war he worked in the Aitken Pit. Kelty. His parents, who belong to Dunfermline, came to reside Kelty a short time ago.

Mr Walter Campbell, Lindsay Cottages, Kelty, has been notified that his son, Private David Campbell, been removed hospital suffering from wounds received action. Private Campbell joined the Army Service Corps in May of last year.

LOCHORE GORDON KILLED.
Private John King, Gordon Highlanders, was killed in action on 31st July last. His wife, who resides in Lochore, has been notified by the War Office to this effect.

Private King joined the army in September, 1914, and has been in France for fifteen months. He was 27 years of age, and worked as a miner before the war.

Private David King, a brother, was killed in France in May this year, while Private Robert King, the only surviving brother, is at present on active service. His father, Mr Robert King, resides 24 Naismith Place, Kelty.
