The Banchory Memorial is quite unusual.
Is its shape and form unique in Scotland? _________________

I'm unsure about it's shape I don't know if it's unique but all I do know it's very special to me. I'll try to find out.
My book about the memorial is available from Aberdeen & North East Scotland Family History Society and costs 7.50 + p&p (It weighs 380g)
I won the Bruce Henderson Award in 2000 which meant the Society published the book. I don't make anything from it as the profits go to the society. I'll include a link publications@anesfhs.org.uk Anne |

An unusual shaped war memorial that does not fall into the standard stock patterns. It commemorates both World War I & II. It is rectangular with a slightly skirted base standing on a raised plinth. It is surmounted by a 'bellcot' with a thin cross on top. It was unveiled on the 5th August 1923. |

I have been looking over information about William Kelly and found a list which says he was the architect of the memorial.
It was in 1923 according to the list and he also designed the Memorial to the Seventh Gordon Highlanders (this was 1920) which is on the main road going further west. |
