Absent from the memorial

If SNWM and the newspaper info are correct, he was born in Hamilton and his family were still residing there at the time of his death. Perhaps they chose not to have him included?

WW1
Pte. Hugh Connor R.S.Fus.

(Glasgow Herald 29th March 1915)
"Mrs Connor, 4 Lamb Street, has been notified that her husband, Private Hugh Connor, 1st Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, was killed at Neuve Chapelle. He was a reservist and saw service in the South African war, for which he held two medals."

(Glasgow Herald 31st March 1915)
"Private Hugh Connor, Lamb Street, Hamilton, has been officially reported killed. According to information, he met his death in a trench blown up by the enemy in the fighting around Neuve Chapelle. Private Connor was a member of the 1st Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, with which regiment he fought through the South African War, where his only brother, a soldier in the same regiment was killed. Private Connor answered the call of his country August last. He was formerly a miner in Hamilton, and was very popular with his fellow workmen. He leaves a widow and five children."
