Cove and Kilcreggan War Memorial Inscription
UKNIWM 8539 & 5965

This memorial has two entries (from the image sent to me by UKNIWM of entry 5965). This is a Celtic cross on a small plinth and base block on the shore of Cove Village opposite the Cove Burgh Hall. The memorial faces the Hall away from the Clyde. The main face contains the dedication inscription on the lower shaft and the names of fallen from WW1 on the base block in two columns. The front face of the cross is heavily carved with ornate circular celtic designs and is heavily bossed. The rear face of the cross is also carved but less heavily. The names of the fallen from WW2 are on the rear block. The memorial is on a grassed and slabbed area with a low metal railing around it. The cross is 2 ½ to 3m tall overall.

Does this memorial cover this part of Argyll all the way from Coulport round to Rosneath?

I would think so. The villages of Rosneath, Kilcreggan & Cove are smallish. The WM lies directly outside the Burgh Hall for Cove, between Cove & Kilcreggan, so I would think is a good candidate for a memorial for the area. Coulport is mainly a MOD base, not many houses there.
