I like this memorial, particularly the regimental badges on it. A nice touch:

The Second World War names are on a separate panel on the rear wall:

There was also another plaque at the back of the small garden which I never got a chance to photograph. If anyone has a photo of it, can they post it here?

WW1
C.J. Lyon, Lt.

(Glasgow Herald 9th Dec 1914)
"News has been received at North Berwick that Lieutenant Charles James Lyon, 1st Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, was killed in action near Ypres on November 14. He was the fifth son of the late Mr Walter Lyon, and of Mrs Lyon, Tantallon Lodge, North Berwick. Lieutenant Lyon, who was Acting-Adjutant of his battalion, was only 24 years of age, and joined the Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1909 after having passed from Haileybury college into Sandhurst. The death of Lieutenant Lyon is all the more pathetic owing to fact that one of his brothers, Lieutenant Alexander Patrick F. Lyon, 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders, was killed at Bertry, in France, on August 27. The latter, an Army interpreter, was making inquiries in the front of a half battalion which had mistaken the German lines for the French and was killed during the firing which ensued."

Name: LYON, CHARLES JAMES
Initials: C J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Captain
Regiment/Service: Royal Scots Fusiliers
Unit Text: 1st Bn.
Age: 24
Date of Death: 13/11/1914
Awards: Mentioned in Despatches
Additional information: Son of Walter F. K. and Isabella R. Lyon, of Tantallon Lodge, North Berwick.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 19 and 33.
