Wigtownshire Free Press (15/11/1918): Sub-Lieut James Grant, Sherwood Foresters (killed), was the elder son of Mr and Mrs Grant, Aigas, and was 35 years of age. Mr Grant served as a Private in the Cameron Highlanders, and obtained a commission with the Sherwood Foresters in January 1918. He was wounded in July last, and he was awarded the Military Cross shortly before his death. In civil life he was factor to the Earl of Galloway. Prior to that he had been sub-factor to Sir Kenneth Mackenzie of Gairloch, and factor to Mr Trotter of Mortonhall. He is survived by his wife, who is the elder daughter of Mr Macdonald, inspector of Schools, Aberdeen, and who resides at Galloway Estate House, Newton Stewart.
