Donald Alan, born 30/9/1917 Johnshaven (Castle Street). Merchant Navy, MV Zealandic, 2nd Engineer. Sunk by U-106 (Jurgen Oesten) on 17/1/1941 position 58.28N, 20.43W – Grid AL2599. Crew seen to take to lifeboats but were never seen again. Tower Hill Memorial Panel 120. Son of the late George Donald and of Gertrude Donald, of Dulwich, Adelaide, South Australia. His father was lost as master of Myrtle Branch which was sunk by UB 73 on 11th April 1918. |
