I came across a gravestone in Borgue churchyard of this man -

Name: HOOD, ROBERT Initials: R
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: King's Own Scottish Borderers
Unit Text: 2nd Bn.
Age: 37
Date of Death: 04/10/1917
Service No: 25770
Additional information: Son of John and Mary Hood, of Pringleton, Borgue, Kirkcudbright.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 66 to 68.
Memorial: TYNE COT MEMORIAL

Anyone know where he might be commemorated? He is not on the Borgue memorial. SNWM shows he was, born in Minnigaff but he is not on that memorial either. Could it be that Borgue and Minnigaff both assumed he would be on the other so he is missing entirely?

Thanks Mark, I am sure it made sense at the time, born in one parish, commemorated on parents grave in a second and commemorated on a memorial in a third! But strangely - not on any church memorial (Borgue does not have one).

I really must get these memorials transcribed so we can search on them.
