Hi Anne,
This man is actually 240526 Pte Thomas A Davidson, originally 5th Gordons, later 2nd. CWGC shows unit as "Depot'. His memorial card shows wounded 4/10/1917 and died of wounds at Suttonveny Hospital England on 18 Dec 1917 - aged 20 years and 4 months. Buchan Observer 16/10/1917 (Longside): Mr Alexander Davidson, W. Longhill, Buthlaw, has received information that his son Pte Thomas A. Davidson, has been admitted to Rouen Hospital suffering from gunshot wound on the scalp, and is dangerously ill. CWGC shows: Age 20. Son of Alexander and Annie Davidson, of Middle Hythie, Mintlaw. Born at Nether, Kinmundy, Longside. (LONGSIDE CEMETERY).
For some reason, possibly because of the change in unit to Depot, he does not appear in SDGW or Scottish National War Memorial database.

Cheers

Carolyn
