HMS Racoon was a Beagle class destroyer launched in 1910. On Wednesday, 9th. January, 1918, commanded by Lieut. Napier, she ran aground in heavy seas and a snowstorm, struck the Garvan Isles, off the north coast of Ireland (County Donegal), and sank with the loss of all 91 crew aboard at the time (9 ratings out of the total complement of 100 had been left behind at the last port of call).
