Judging by his new postings I think Ian A visited the Orkneys Wink

But did he do anything else apart from photograph memorials, dodge the rain and drink beer?

Not much....

I watched red-throated divers at Burgar Hill reserve, I photographed nesting fulmars at Mull Head, saw puffins at Marwick Head, beachcombed at the Bu of Burray, placed some poppy crosses on graves at Lyness naval cemetery for pals who can never get there, explored North Ronaldsay from top to bottom (six miles) but, yeah, mostly 'did' the memorials. Great place, Orkney!

What would I know about ale? Actually, I was a bit miffed because my hotel didn't have Dark Island on tap. I had to make do with John Smiths. Scapa ale is very good.
