Re Gavin Logan -

Quote "SS BARON AILSA -

Logan's vessel was apparantly mined off the coast of Cromer, Norfolk.

As an after thought I should have commented that Gavin Logan's wife also died January 1942 when the S.S. Lady Hawkins was torpedoed off the coast of North Carolina, USA.

David Paton McLoughlin: he is listed on the PolocK Cricket Club (which is in Pollok park) War Memorial which might be further evidence that this is the man named on the Giffnock memorial.

Following a meeting with DP McLoughlin's sister and two of his nieces this afternoon, I can confirm that he is indeed the man listed on the Poloc memorial - http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=7924
