WMR 44428
OS Map Ref NX 63569 77816

Location in St Margaret's church, New Galloway

Capt Sanderson is also listed on the civic memorial at Parton, the church memorial in St Margaret's, New Galloway and has a further individual memorial in Parton Parish church.

I tried to find Archibald Sanderson in the 1901 census (he would have been aged about 14) but no sign of him in Scotland. His parents were living locally with 7 servants.

I 'may' have him in the 1901 English census at Uppingham Boarding School, Rutland;

Archibald J Sanderson (15) Student. He was born in Aldershot

This is from Uppingham Schools website:
The buildings of the School continued to expand. 450 ex-pupils died in the First World War and the School Hall was built in their memory

That looks like him. Could not link him with the other Sanderson officers though, perhaps a generation or two back. I'll leave that to someone else I think.
