seeing a couple of recent posts about mines led me to thinking.....
In WW2 a number of men were conscripted to serve in the mines instead of the armed forces (Bevan Boys) and presumably a number died as a result of accidents in the mines. I have never seen a specific memorial or mention of miners on any WW2 memorial (nor in England).
Has anyone else seen Bevan boys mentioned on a memorial? I have seen NAAFI staff, YMCA and even a Munitions Worker but no Bevan Boys. |

Me neither, it might be worth having a look at the Scottish Mining website to see if anything is mentioned there.

The new Memorial at Cowie has a separate Memorial to all the miners in the same enclosure.
