Invergowrie was formerly incorporated in the City of Dundee but now lies in the Perth & Kinross Council area so I'll post here.

This, from the War Memorials Trust, sheds some light on the monuments recent history;

Cpl Robert A Burns who died in the Falklands conflict served with 22 SAS Regt. He is mentioned on the Palace Barracks Memorial http://www.palacebarracksmemorialgarden.org/Falkland%20Islands.htm#22%20Special%20Air%20Service but there are no further details listed.

The Invergowrie memorial stood as part of the gateway at the village park. It became vandalised and desecrated. It was decided to move the celtic cross to the grounds of the local Presbyterian Church.

Disgusting springs to mind when I read of this.

Just in case anyone does not bother to follow the links (I know I sometimes don't).....................

Invergowrie's war memorial cross received a grant of £250 in 1999 towards community supported relocation (WM2562).
