It continues to amaze how many connections can be made in relation to the various memorials.
William Easson is also commemorated on the Blairgowrie & Rattray Memorial. I have his picture and some detail for my forthcoming book (it will happen!).
He is also commemorated on the Hill Church Plaque (posted) although it shows him as Private - a mistake. |

And another;
Blairgowrie Advertiser 1915
RATTRAY
Pvt. Joseph Burns, Gordon Highlanders, Dura Den, was killed in action on 10th May.
He was brought up in Rattray, where his parents resided, his father being employed as a heckler at Ashgrove Works, where he was also working previous to going to Dura Den.
He enlisted shortly after the outbreak of the war, and was wounded at Loos in September 1915.
Twenty-three years of age he leaves a widow and two children.
Joseph Burns is another not listed locally here. |

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to

to all, as was his disregard for danger in the
attack when leading his platoon. Although
severely wounded he refused all assistance. _________________ Ken |

I didn't realise how significant Kemback was in military history (or to be honest where it is!)
