(Kirriemuir Free Press June 1916)
"Exactly a year after he enlisted, news has been received by his parents who reside at Craigyloch, Lintrathen, Kirriemuir, that Lance-Corporal William Anderson, of the Seaforth highlanders, has been killed in action. The communication stated that he had been killed on the 6th of April.
Lance-Corporal Anderson who was a fine stalwart man 25 years of age, was a member of the Musselburgh Police Force before he enlisted. He had seen service in Franc elast autumn, and afterwards went with his regiment to the releif of kut."
