LIEUT. KENNETH WATSON, LOYAL NORTH LANCS. REGt.
Kenneth Clennell Watson – age 22 – Lieutenant, 10th Battalion, The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.
Kenneth was educated at Annan Academy and at Warriston College in Moffat, Dumfriesshire before becoming an apprentice engineer at the Cochrane & Company Works at Newbie, Annan. He had joined the Territorial 5th King's Own Scottish Borderers and as Private (1465) he was mobilised in August 1914. He was commissioned in September. He was promoted to Lieutenant in August 1915 and landed with the 10th LNLR at Boulogne. Kenneth was gassed and wounded and was evacuated to hospital in Glasgow in July 1916. He had returned to France only a few weeks before he was killed.
Born 1895 in Annan. Son of Charles Watson (solicitor) and of Sarah Elizabeth (Clennel) Watson of Greencroft, Annan.
Missing in Action on 11 April 1917 and named on the Arras Memorial, France.
Also named on the Annan War Memorial and on the Annan Academy memorial (together with his brothers Patrick Balfour Watson, age 26, Private (437089) 15th Battalion, Canadian Infantry killed on 27 June 1916, and William George Douglas Watson, age 36, Captain, 1/5th (Dumfries and Galloway) Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers who was killed on 19 April 1917)

PTE. ALBERT G. WILSON, 4th RES. K.O.S.B.
Albert Goodrich Wilson – age 19 – Private (35240) 4th Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
Albert was a fitter at the Cochrane & Company Works at Newbie, Annan when he enlisted in June 1918. He was in training in Fife when he contracted a fever and he was admitted to the East Fife Infectious Diseases Hospital in Dunfermline where he died.
Born 1898 in Annan. Son of the late Stewart and Jeanie or Jane (Caithness) Wilson of Wellington Street, Annan. Brother of Lawrence Wilson 30 Ednam Street, Annan.

PTE. EDWARD WOODHOUSE, R.D.C.
Edward Woodhouse – age 52 – Private (20054) King's Own Scottish Borderers.
Edward was a fisherman who died of cancer at his home in Ednam Street, Annan.
I suspect that he had served with a Supernumerary Company of the 2/5th KOSB which carried out guarding duties at key places including perhaps the Cochrane & Company Works at Newbie, Annan. These companies were formed into the Royal Defence Corps in April 1916.
Born 1861 in Annan as Edward Woodhouse Rae. Son of the late Thomas and Mary Ann (Rae) Woodhouse who married in 1872 in Annan. Husband of Isabella (Wylie) Woodhouse of 8 Ednam Street and of 4 Port Street, Annan who he married in 1886 in Annan.
