"Mr James Thomson, carpenter, Erskine Street, Montrose, has been informed by the War Office of the death of his youngest son, Lance-Corporal William Thomson, 2nd H.L.I. Lance-Corporal Thomson, who died in hospital at Wimereux, France, was employed as a plumber when war broke out."

"Trooper Fenton McKenzie, F and F.I.Y., has succumbed to wounds received at the Dardanelles. He was the third son of the late Mr William McKenzie, Academy Park Flour Mills, Montrose. The deceased was through the South African war, and possessed the medal and five clasps for that campaign. He was married."

Montrose. —The death has occurred in the 1st Scottish General Hospital, Oldmill, Aberdeen, from wounds received in action, of Private Adam A. Pairman. King's Liverpools, second son of Mr J. C. Pairman, 11 White's Place, Montrose. Private Pairman, who enlisted in November, 1915, went to France December of the following year, and had undergone several operations for wounds to his right arm. He was 25 years of age. and served his time an ironmonger Mr R. M. Hird, Montrose, subsequently entering the service of Mr Phin, Dundee.
