Memorial sits in Zetland Park, Grangemouth.





World War 1 (on the front of the memorial)










World War 2 (on the back of the memorial) + 1 name from the Korean War

Quite unusual, is that the British Lion attacking the German Eagle?

I don't know!

It's quite a height and although it was a nice sunny day, as usual, the sun wasn't quite in the right position. I intend to go back and see if I can get a better photo and also if there's any note of a scuptor anywhere that I missed before.

I took the sculpture to be symbolic of the crushing of the German Imperial Eagle by the British Empire.

This man listed on the Second World War panel of the memorial was part of the ill-fated commando raid on the Norsk Hydro heavy water factory at Rjukan in Norway. He is also commemorated on the Operation Freshman Memorial at Skitten in Caithness.
