Spotted this on the UKNIWM blog:
| Quote: | The memorial in Garloch will be moving to a new site in due course as its current site is not only difficult to access but it has also been deemed unsafe according to the Highland Council.
The Highland Council carried out a public survey to gauge opinions about the move and the proposal was met with overwhelming support. The memorial is to be re-sited closer to the village’s Crasg car park but a date for its move is unknown as yet.

There's a book on google which has a list of the Fallen and a Roll of Honour for the area but as it is copyrighted material I am posting details of where it can be viewed:

The archivist in the Gairloch Heritage Musuem told me that there was some talk of the memorial being moved to a new location from the area that overlooks the beach . That was several years ago now so maybe the info in the previous updates is a step nearer to the move .
I recall that Lt Roderick Mackenzie , Black Watch is listed on a memorial in the Ross shire area

The memorial was relocated - as anticipated - during August and September 2009.
The dis-assembly and rebuilding work was carried out by Martin Anderson Ltd.
M. Lawrie of the Highland Council supervised the work.
The memorial was re-dedicated at a well attended ceremony conducted by the local minister on 19th September 2009. An address was given by John Mackenzie of Gairloch Estate.
A piper played and wreaths were laid.
I will post some photographs when I figure out how to do it![/img] |

That's a super location.
Well done to all concerned in getting the memorial into a safer and more accessible site. _________________ There must be a place under the sun where hearts of olden glory grow young ..... |
