Kinnell - Angus District
The Kinnell war memorial is a grey granite broken classical column on a square pedestal. The commemoration and names of the dead are in lead lettering on the face of the pedestal. The memorial stands in the kirkyard.

The memorial was unveiled in October 1920 by the Countess of Southesk.

I saw an article from 2010 which reported on planning permission to convert Kinnell Church into a house and that the war memorial was to be moved. Does anyone know if this has been carried out ? |

Date of Award: November 10, 1917
This NCO was in charge of a Machine gun and crew during the operations against PASSCHENDAELE RIDGE on November 10th 1917, and although his entire crew became casualties and the gun was twice buried he dug it out himself each time, and set it up in action, working it until his Company was relieved.
