Here is a very very sad story.
The following were brothers from Kilibirnie all killed

MOCHRIE ANDREW S.R.
MOCHRIE JAMES G.H
MOCHRIE MATTHEW S.R.
MOCHRIE ROBERT R.S.F.

Although James, Matthew and Robert were in diffferent regiments
they all died on the same day.
29/05/1915.
I would be delighted if a pal could help me research this further.

Kevin

Well I found the first one - I searched for Abbott J on SNWM http://www.snwm.org/website/frames.html and this gave me his regimental number, I then looked for all the Abbotts on CWGC, sorted by number (click on head of column) and scrolled down until I found him.

Name: ABBOTT
Initials: T
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Lance Serjeant
Regiment/Service: Royal Scots Fusiliers
Unit Text: 6th Bn.
Date of Death: 08/04/1916
Service No: 11945
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: II. B. 29.
Cemetery: LONDON RIFLE BRIGADE CEMETERY

This technique works for a few but remember to check for common miss-spellings (I checked for Abot, Abbot and Abott).

Kevin,
Here's a start for you.
These men were born in Kilbirnie: their regimental numbers should make it easier for you to find the specific individuals on the CWGC site.

Are you sure this is the right chap as it has him as T Abbott and the bloke I am after is James

Kevin,
It looks like another scanning error listed by the CWGC.

The number given by Spoons relates to a James Abbott, born Greenock, enlisted Ayr, lived Kilbirnie.

Keep a note of all the scanning errors you find as you trawl through the CWGC website and then let them know.

For some reason a search on T. RETS worked where RETSON didn't. I wonder if there is a wee bug in the CWGC database?

Looks to me like a problem with the database index. Anyone got a contact they can report it to?

How did you get this image onto photobucket? I noticed you doing something similar for the CWGC database as well.
