The newspaper article mentions Sjt Park was awarded the DCM but his CWGC entry says MM. Presumably the CWGC is correct.

Adam - there is some confusion

The London Gazette
Publication date:10 November 1916 Supplement:29819Page:10933

CORRECTION.
Military Medal Awards.
London Gazette dated llth October, 1916.
Delete 139428 Cpl. (Actg. Sjt.) G. West, R.E.
London Gazette dated 27th October, 1916.
Delete M/37725 Pte. H. Brown, A.S.C.
The awards of the Military Medal to the
above-mentioned Non-commissioned Officer and
man were announced in the Gazette prior to the
dates specified.

However I cannot find an earlier date - except for what appears to be a Mentioned in Despatches on 13 June 1916.

Maybe this explains it?

Publication date:10 October 1916 Supplement:29780Page:9840
CORRECTIONS.
The following amendments to the London
Gazette are notified:
Gazette dated 14th September, 1916
For 3/4087 Pte. G. West, R. Highrs., now R.E.
Read 3/4145 Pte. G. West, R. Highrs., now R.E..

So he was awarded the MM in September 1916. for actions while a Black Watch man.
(Publication date:12 September 1916 Supplement:29749Page:9006)

To be fair, Adam, the entry you quote was actually the Find My Past transcription. The proper Ellis Island passenger manifest says British, Scotch and Scotland. Cheers.
