"Mr Alexander MacLean, Gordonhall, Kingussie, has received official information that his son, Private Alistair A.A. MacLean, London Scottish, died in hospital in France on November 14 of wounds received in action three days previously. Private MacLean was almost continuously in action from October 31 to November 11. He and his comrade, Private Henry Mackintosh, Kirkcaldy, who died in hospital November 22, were together in the trenches, and were wounded by the same shell. Private MacLean, who was only 20 years of age, was in the service of the Bank of Montreal in London. A keen territorial, he was among the first of the London Scottish to offer himself for service."

"Intimation has been received in Kingussie of the death under distressing circumstances in France of another member of the Badenoch Company of the 4th Camerons (Territorials). Private William MacPherson had been bathing where the Battalion was billeted. After getting out of the water he was seized with heart failure, to which he succumbed. He was a painter to trade, and before joining the Camerons resided with his wife and family in Kingussie. He belonged to Inverness."

"Company Sergeant Major Stott, 4th Cameron Highlanders, whose wife and two children reside in Kingussie, was killed in action on June 16. Sergeant Major Stott served for 21 years in the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. He went through the Boer war, taking part in the defence of Ladysmith, and was thrice wounded. Leaving the Army he was appointed postman at Dalwhinnie and subsequently at Kingussie. Two years ago he joined the Cameron Territorials."
