WILLIAM FERGUSON.
Named on the Torthorwald Parish War Memorial in Collin Village, Dumfriesshire as:
WILLIAM C. FERGUSSON,
William Currie Fergusson – age 37 – Private (S/16319) 1/7th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
William had been an under-gardener at Harvieston Castle, Tillicoultry for about 7 years when he enlisted in December 1915. He was mobilised in June 1916 and went to France in the November. He was posted to the 1/7th Argylls in April but was gassed and evacuated to the 22nd General Hospital in Camiers in the May. He returned to his battalion but was wounded and died in the 50th Casualty Clearing Station at Sezanne.

Born 1881 in Torthorwald as Fergusson. Son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Wright) Fergusson of Collin, Torthorwald. Husband of Betsy McIntosh (Nicolson) Ferguson of West Lodge Harvieston Castle, Tillicoultry who he married as Ferguson in 1907 in Anderston, Glasgow.
Died of Wounds on 27 July 1918 and buried in Sezanne Communal Cemetery, Marne, France. _________________ Ken |

Henry married Maggie Jane Hodge in 1893 at Tillicoultry.
William Hodge Crawford was born in Tillicoultry in 1894. |
