This brass plaque on marble backboard is at Toward Parish Church.

It reads-
To the Glory of God and in Proud and Loving Memory of Lieut William Landell, 14th (Service) Battn Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Killed while bravely leading his men in action 22 July 1917. ' The night is dark and I am far from home, lead thou me on'. erected by his brother officers, non-commissioned officer and men. |
