Abbeyhill Baptist Church Congregation War Memorial
Location: East end of Brunsick Road
OS Ref: NT 268 748

A modest memorial for a modest looking church. It has recently been refurbished so out with the pews and in with pastel shades and comfy seats. The plaque has been put back in a prominent position though.

The Church. The plaque is on the right hand side of the vestibule

Hi Adam

I'm a Baptist minister who is currently involved in a project to locate, photograph and research the existing Baptist memorials and rolls of honour in Baptist Churches.

According to one of my current Church members who grew up in Abbeyhill Baptist, there was once a brass plaque that had his dad and uncles name on it.

I was given permission to look the in the Church archives recently and I found a roll of honour lying behind some old photos. As I'm new to the site, I'm not sure how to post a picture of the roll. I have had a quick look at the help feature, but still wasn't all that sure how I could post an image. Can you help me on this?

I have some other Baptist memorial images and a few from other Edinburgh memorials.

Regards
LIT

Before you can post an image you have to put the image onto a web based photo album. Most of us here use photobucket

http://photobucket.com/

When you have registered with your album provider you can then load your photos onto your account. Once that is done you post the link to the image rather than the photograph itself on the forum. If you click on the IMG code in photbucket under your image it copies the URL and you can then just paste it into your post.

For example the properties of the Abbeyhill photograph above are:

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o256/Brownag/AbbeyhillBaptistChurchWarMemorial.jpg

By highlighing this URL and clicking on the 'Img' button on the 'post a reply' page of the forum when you are posting it will turn it from a normal link to an image.

I hope this makes sense. It hopefully does when you try and post an image. If it doesn't PM me offline. I look forward to seeing some of your Edinburgh information.

Kind regards

Adam

You should post a message in our queries and requests section to see if anyone can provide information for other Baptist Churches in Scotland.
