Jane Haining Memorial Stone
Location: On The Vigil for the Scottish Parliament Cairn at the South East corner of Calton Hill. Overlooking former Royal High School and Holyrood
OS Ref: NT 263 741
I have photos of the few other plaques on the cairn if anyone wants them. None of them can be classed as war memorials so I'll not post them here unless requested.
The stone from Auschwitz
The cairn in relation to the other two war memorials on Calton Hill
The text of the Haining plaque has not turned out that well on this photobucket image.
It reads
The Stone from Auschwitz
is in memory of
JANE HAINING
Scottish Missionary and all
others who died in the death camp
This not the only memorial to the Holocaust in Edinburgh. In Princess Street Gardens there is a memorial tree to Anne Frank and a memorial stone to the Liberation of Belsen.
For more information on other Jane Haining memorials look in the Dumfries and Galloway section of this forum.
