The aforementioned FT Galloway, Schoolmaster at Makerstoun. William is the elder of the two boys, my Grand Father is the other. Thomas served the whole war as a signaller in 19th Btn CEF. but didn't return to Canada after the war.

All the girls were teachers, one of whom is referenced in the newspaper report, but no idea which one. Kate married William Wallace (of Kelso) the other four never married.

William is also remembered on the Saskatchewan Virtual War Memorial.
http://svwm.ca/casualty-display/?ID=A000002070
There is a full photo of him there (and a headstone photo) and his entry confirms that he died of wounds sustained two days earlier near Vimy.

I got a load of stuff from the Rosetown, Sask. library, including obituaries of William and his wife & child. Contact then made with the virtual memorial to which I supplied those photos.

Hoping to visit one day to see the grave markers.

I had no idea it was a typo, sometimes there are differing dates in different sources.
The info I supplied came from his C.E.F. record.

Scott, that is a great photo. Might I have permission to include it in the article I've prepared for the parish of Makerstoun? If you are interested, I could send photos of the school and schoolhouse.
