UKNIWM Ref: 44254

OS Map Ref: NX 982 741

This memorial took a bit of tracking down so first an explanation.
UKNIWM has this memorial incorrectly described as Crichton Royal Infirmary. The Royal Infirmary is a separate establishment about half a mile away and is not connected with this memorial in any way.
Originally this establishment was entitled Crichton Royal Hospital, it later became Crichton University Campus but is generally known simply as 'The Crichton'.
The memorial is inside The Crichton Chapel, also known as Crichton Memorial Church. This has got to be the biggest 'chapel' I have ever seen and is bordering on a cathedral for its proportions. Apart from the staff memorial, there is one other war memorial inside (Maxwell).
A full description of the history of this establishment can be found in the book 'The Chronicle of Crichton Royal' by C C Easterbrook (written in 1940s I think).

Further photos of the chapel can be found here http://www.imchad.freeola.com/mc_clumpha/dfs-chrchs/index.htm - just click on Crichton on the left side of the screen.

Being very new to this forum, I was just having a look and I thought that I would try searching for one of the names that is currently occupying most of my spare time!

I entered Capt John C T Teggart and found this post and the photo of the memorial plaque in the church. Capt Teggart is also on the Tobermory War Memorial and the Kilmuir Church (Easter Ross) Memorial and on a memorial plaque in the Church, together with his twin brother Lt Francis William Stuart Teggart who was killed in the advance on Passchendale on 26th October 1917.

I think that finding out about these men and talking about them keeps their memory alive.
