The Scotsman, 21st December 1920
CHIRNSIDE - A war memorial in the form of a Celtic cross of bold design in rough-hewn Ravelston stone has been erected near the entrance to Chirnside Parish Church, and was unveiled on Sunday by the Earl of Home at the conclusion of a united service in the Parish Church conducted by the Rev A McKeachie MA, parish minister, and the Rev WC McDonald MA, United Free Church. The names of 25 officers and men appear on the memorial.

Among Edinburgh sculptor Alexander Carrick's letters at the National Monument Record of Scotland Office in Edinburgh, Manuscript Collection 22, there is a receipt for the carving of the letters on the Chirnside war memorial. |
