Kirriemuir War Memorial is situated in the graveyard on a hill overlooking the town.
I visited it yesterday and, although chilly, the views afforded across the snow-capped mountains of Perthshire and Angus was magnificent, and so was the monument, it's a cracker.
I'm a Perthshire man but the list of names at Kirriemuir (Angus) goes on and on, I was truly humbled. I did a quick bit of research and to a man they were all from the town - they Kirrie boys took a hammerin' - due respect.

Derek R said that he would like to visit the Blairgowrie & Rattray Memorial. Obviously, I agree.
Sitting on a bench, in the laid out garden, surrounding it is very pleasant. Not to mention the numerous watering holes nearby!
However, seeing Kirrie, I would have to say that this is a must see if anyone is in the area.
Comments?
regards,

That is a lot of names. Humbling indeed. It is a very impressive memorial and well worth a viist as you say. There are a lot of CEF and ANZACs listed but I notice no South Africans.
