According to:

http://www.scottisharchitects.org.uk/architect_full.php?id=203352

Sir Basil Urwin Spence was responsible for this memorial. Spence had served in the Royal Artillery in the Second World War and had connections to Edinburgh where he was a teacher at the College of Art before and after the war.

There is only one Lt R. Burnhope listed in the CWGC database and he comes from Edinburgh. He isn't a gunner though. The 94th HAA was broken up in 1943 so the personnel would have gone to other units. I would have thought they would have stayed in the Artillery.

BURNHOPE, RONALD
Initials: R
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Lieutenant
Regiment/Service: Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)
Unit Text: 1st Bn.
Age: 24
Date of Death: 11/07/1944
Service No: 296493
Additional information: Son of John R. and Helen J. B. Burnhope, of Edinburgh.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 16, Column 1.
Memorial: BAYEUX MEMORIAL
