"In Memory of General Nathaniel Stevenson, Colonel of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, second son of Nathaniel Stevenson of Braidwood, who died at Machrihanish, on 2nd August 1911, in the 72nd year of his age.
Born at Braidwood, on 15th April 1840.
He commanded the 87th Royal Irish Fusiliers, 1871-80.
Was Assistant Adjutant General & Quarter Master General Cork District 1880-4.
Deputy Adjutant General, Ireland, 1884-6.
Commanded Cork District, 1886-9, Northern District, 1889.
North Eastern District, 1889-91.
Lieutenant Governor, and Commanding troops Guernsey, 1894-9.
Colonel Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, 1902.
He lived esteemed, and died regretted by all who knew him." |
