Strange sort of place Irongray, you could drive around all day, even with a map, and not find it. It doesn't really exist now, perhaps it did once as a hamlet or village, but now it is less than that. Just a church and a few scattered farmhouses in a rural community. I know there are usually more WW1 than WW2 names on a memorial, but even more so in this case. Still very peaceful. If you are visiting, just try and find Irongray church.

This memorial is not listed on UKNIWM

I started on a list of abbreviations today as suggested by Jim McGinlay. One I was debating about including was O&BLI. I see now that I should include it.

Regards

I think this is the churchyard where the family of Jane Haining are buried. She is also commemorated on the family gravestione, so it could almost be classed as a War Memorial.

More information on her can be found here. She's also a distant relative of mine. I have some photos of some memorials to her somewhere which I need to dig out.

This became WMR, ex UKNIWM, memorial 69576 on 3rd November 2015.

I had been looking out for this memorial as I have actually been there, and submitted a recommendation for our then local man to visit (which I believe he never did), but couldn't remember the name of the church.
