Hawick - Wilton Parish Church

UKNIWM - not listed.

Two stained glass windows in the west aisle of the church designed and executed by Miss Lilian J. Pocock, London, symbolise “The Consecration of the Warrior” and “The Consecration of Victory”.
Between the windows is a mural tablet of Roman stone, with a border of Caen stone, designed by Mr James P.Alison, of Hawick, and executed by Messrs Allan & Sons, Edinburgh.
The names of 74 men of the congregation who gave up their lives are carved on four panels.
The memorial was unveiled on September 25th, 1921 by the Rev. Dr J. Rudge Wilson, and was afterwards dedicated by the Right Rev. Dr McClymont, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

“TO THE HALLOWED AND GLORIOUS MEMORY
OF THE MEN OF THIS CONGREGATION WHO
BY THE GRACE OF GOD GAVE THEIR LIVES
FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR
THESE WINDOWS ARE DEDICATED
IN HUMBLE GRATITUDE A.D. 1921”
