Sitting on the benches in the front-centre of the photograph are nine females in a row. I thought at first they may have been wives / mothers of the dead but a closer inspection of the photograph makes me think they may be girls because of their their size and the way they are huddled together. I wonder why they are there?

It looks like a piano has been wheeled out for the singing of the hymns but no one is at it beacuse on the right hand side you can just make out a bugler with his bugle at his lips.

Regards

Adam

Isn't this a wonderful photograph - the more I look at it the more I see.
Of the 4 men standing (backs to camera) the one on the right appears to have bagpipes under his arm.

Thanks for posting this Stuart.
