St Ninian's Church War Memorial
Location: North Leith Parish Church, Madiera Place

Many thanks to Andrew Grant for providing this photograph

St Ninian's UF first merged with Leith Harper Memorial Church in 1929 as Leith St Ninian's. LSN merged with Leith St Nicholas' in 1962 but retained their former name. Finally they merged with NLPC in 1982.

This memorial originally hung in the St Ninian's UF Church which was at corner of Dock Street and Commercial Street.

The shell of the church still stands and is an imposing building on Commercial street. It is also known as the Mariners' Church from one of its former names. I don't know its current purpose.

The building was used as a nightclub for a number of years until March 2007 when the building was badly damaged by fire, leaving little more than the stone shell.

There have been planning applications since then to redevelop the building, but as far as I know no redevelopment has started.
