This memorial appears to list all from the village who served. Those who lost their lives are indicated by a star next their name. The list does not completely match the civic memorial outside the kirk.

WMR 78875.
This is the first time I have seen a WW2 example of these triptychs. They were an 'off the shelf' item manufactured by Hughes Bolckow of Sunderland, from timber and metal recovered from HMS Britannia, a cadet training ship from 1889 to 1905.
They are quite common in Cumbria for example, but also in other parts of the UK. |
