Not to be confused with Carstairs Junction, these two places are actually separate, although they seem to share the design of their war memorials.

is, I think, this man:

SDGW has born Kircudbright; resident Carstairs.
Robert was born and educated in Dundrennan. He enlisted in November 1914 and landed at Gallipoli in October 1915.

Robert Agnew was born in 1894 in Rerrick Parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, the son of Mary Agnew who married John Allan in 1903.
Mary died in Carstairs in 1921.

Robert Agnew is listed on the Rerrick Parish War Memorial in Dundrennan and he, his mother and step-father are listed on the Agnew family grave in Dundrennan Abbey Churchyard.

Possibly

John George Stewart Wilson – age 29 – Gunner (135806) Royal Field Artillery.
John was a ploughman at Townhead, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire when he married in 1913. He died in the Military Hospital in Tipperary, Ireland of wounds received in action. (Source: family grave in Carstairs Cemetery and Hamilton Advertiser 27/4/1918 p.1)
Born 1889 in St. Mungo, Dumfriesshire. Son of the late James and Janet (Wilson) Wilson of St. Mungo. Husband of May McPhail (Wallace) Wilson of North Lodge, Carstairs who he married in 1913 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire.
Died of Wounds on 12 April 1918 and buried in Carstairs Cemetery, Lanarkshire.
Also named on the Lockerbie War Memorial and on the St. Mungo Parish Memorial in the parish church in Kettleholm village.
