Now that we have been running for nearly two years there is a little of bit of forum administration to be done.

For example there are some threads out there where we need photographs. We may not have photographs of the name panels or even of the memorial itself. We may need up to date photographs as well.

Other threads might not have a location, Ordnance Survey reference or a UKNIWM entry.

We will also start adding unveiling details so if they haven’t been posted we’ll list them here.

There will probably be other things needing some attention which I haven’t thought of but will be listed here too.

We will start making up a list here covering all this area’s memorials, civic, church, regimental etc. If we come across something that will need actioned the Mods. can add it to this list. If you see something that needs updated please post in this thread and we can update the list.

I thought I knew Moniave fairly well, but I have never heard of Belmont House School, nor can I find it on the web. Have you any more details please?

Found it under a completely different name.

Crawfordton House.

This private school is on my list of schools still to check but now that I know there is something there, I will try and bump it up the list.

Thanks

There is a memorial plaque to Captain Tom Welsh of Earleshaugh who died at Achi Baba Nullah on 12 July 1915. Welsh was a county councillor for Moffat and Wamphray.

It is in the Dumfries and Galloway Council HQ at English Street, Dumfries

Ooh, that's annoying. I have been to that building and asked and they said they do not have anything. Just goes to show that you need to persist!

That is very annoying. From a photograph it looks like it may be in the entrance so if you didn't see it, it may only have been displayed again recently.

If you go onto Twitter and look for @CllrGraemeTait he Tweeted a photograph of a remembrance ceremony yesterday for Captain Welsh at the tablet. I RT'd it on tne SMRG account today.
